  • What makes Sun Fed Beef taste so great? Since 1948, our family has been raising Black Angus cattle, a breed well known for its excellent beef. Every animal in our herd today is the product of 60 years of careful genetic selection for the best tasting, most tender beef we can raise. To enhance the flavor our beef is dry aged for a minimum of 12 days and then cryovaced and frozen to lock in the wonderful flavor and texture of our beef.

  • How is it raised? We raise it today just as it has been raised on our farm for the past 60 years. Each year our cows and calves spend 7 months of the year grazing our side hill pastures, converting the sun’s energy into pounds of delicious beef. During the summer months we raise and harvest our own alfalfa /grass hay and shelled corn to feed our cattle during the winter months. We purchase salt and minerals to supplement these rations but have never used growth hormones or feed antibiotics. Each year a select group of female heifer calves are kept as herd replacements and the remaining females calves (heifers)are finished on grass. All male calves (steers) are grain finished on shelled corn, soybean meal, salt and minerals .

  • Are the animals treated humanely? We love and respect the animals in our care. All of our animals have access to shelter during the winter months. Grain finished cattle have access to the barn and a large yard during finishing phase. Grass finished cattle are rotationally grazed in paddocks. All of our beef is professionally processed in a family run federally inspected slaughterhouse.

  • How can I purchase your beef? Sun Fed Beef is available by the individual cut or in larger bulk orders. 50 lb family packs are priced by the delivered weight and Sides and Split Sides are priced by the hanging weight. Our beef is also available year round at many local health food stores and restaurants. In New York City our beef is available year round at several Greenmarket locations.
